So far ahead

Hello hello! I've been MIA because 1) I've  been in Australia for two weeks and 2) my last year of law school began and I've been pretty much swamped since. I'll do my best to update from time to time, even if the posts won't be very substantial. Until then, enjoy some Frank Ocean.

Really good, right? I've been playing this video non-stop!

Have a lovely weekend!

Nervous

I don't know why, but I always find it really difficult to sleep the night before I go on any trip. I feel even more anxious if it's the night before I have to get on a plane. I can't seem to turn off my brain from constantly thinking "Am I forgetting something?" over and over.

Ugh, I have GOT to sleep.

Neigh-sayers

My sister took this picture of me with an app on her iPad. She found it a lot more hilarious than I did, but it's still pretty funny =)

Seafood Sunday

Today my aunt put together a small seafood feast before Thao and I leave for Australia on Tuesday. We had clams, mussels and fish, but the lobster was my faaavorite.

I can't believe I will be off to Australia in less 3 days. Ahhh!

Hallelujah

Remember this performance during the Hope for Haiti benefit back in 2010? I was thinking about how much I loved it the other day. I know "Hallelujah" has been covered by everyone and their moms, but I think JT and Matt Morris's somber rendition was just so good. Enjoy.

Dinner at Max's tonight

Whenever I eat dinner at Max's we never really whip up anything fancy, but the food's always tasty and the mood's always relaxing. And, tonight will be my last dinner by Max before I head to Australia for two weeks, so I'm really looking forward to eating on his patio and maybe watching a quick summer storm.

Hnm...

Idea for killing time on a 15-hour flight: Doodling and coloring. I bought two Taro Gomi coloring books a while back (I've been going through a quarter-life crisis for some time now) and they're really fun to do when I'm either procrastinating from school work or when I have nothing else to do. I think I may bring it on my trip.
NOTE: In the picture above, the book instructs us to make the robots fight. Jackie's doodlings are on the left and mine are on the right. I think mine won, haha.

Flying is scary.

In a week, I am off to Australia with my sister and ultimate travel-buddy (ultimate buddy in everything, really). I'm very excited, but I'm also very nervous about the 15-hour flight. I'm feeling a little apprehensive because I get nervous on flights, and staying in the air for 15 hours is  probably going to make me want to kill myself. I guess I'll have a week to figure out a bunch of different ways to entertain myself when I'm not asleep on the plane... Wish me luck.

I like my diamonds like I like my men...

Black diamond studs. Simple and sexy. Gimme.

It runs in the family.

My Dad, back in the day, keepin' it real.

Some trip pics

I have been all over the place this summer! In June I went to PCB with my girlfriends, then Ft. Lauderdale with my family, and I just got back from Savannah with Thao and Max. And, in about two weeks I'll be Australia with Thao! Gaah, I am BEYOND excited. Until then, here are some snaps from my trips.

Tamer, our Savannah host, got us a crap-ton of seafood. Yuuuuum.

Drinks after a long day of kayaking at the Tybee Social Club.

Thao, on the rooftop of the Bohemian in downtown Savannah. Such a fun night.

Thao, sipping a mimosa (I had a bangin' bloody mary) on the rooftop pool at the Westin in Ft. Lauderdale,

Thao, again, on the beach at Panama City Beach. Not a drunken teenager in sight. It was a good trip.

The rest can be found on instagram.

Safety Not Guaranteed

Today, for the first time ever, I went to the movies by myself. This was sort of a big deal for me, since I never ever do anything alone. I don't know, something about doing things alone seems so...lonely!

Since no one was around to entertain me today (Max's is doing his Father's Day thing, Jacks is off in Albany, GA for an internship, etc), I decided to finally give going to the movies solo a whirl. So, I drove to UA Tara, bought myself a small popcorn and threw handfuls of Junior Mints into it and watched Safety Not Guaranteed (Big Duplass Bros fan here). It was perfect, who knew? I think I'll have to do this more often!

L'enfant

That's my little nephew Ralphie in Paris today. To say that I am jealous would be a huge understatement.

Someday, someday...

Do you realize?

I've been busy with something or another every weekend this past month. Between Mother's Day festivities, engagement parties, and weddings, I've had little time to calm down and decompress after finals, but now summer classes have begun and I'm busy busy again. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but I'm feeling a little run-down regardless.

I will say, however, that the Flaming Lips concert that I went to at Party in the Park (I won tickets from Creative Loafing) was amazing and fun. The weather was perfect and the music was great. What more could you want from a Saturday night in the A?

Drugged

The problem with hydrocodone is that it's making me want to sleep instead of study. Sigh.

One fish, two fish.

Jackie and I at the Georgia Aquarium for the John Marshall Law School Barrister's Ball. It was a good time, even more fun than last year's.

I had a root canal yesterday and now I'm feeling like shit and a half. Just thought I'd share these two unrelated things before I go back to studying.

Byeeeeee.

Score!

Yipee! I won a $100 gift card for Maxton Men from Tomboy Style! I'm going to buy the Herschel backpack for my trip to Australia in July. Now to choose a color (I'm pretty partial to khaki)...

Kudos

To all the other bloggers our there with much more interesting and busier (maybe) lives than me and are still able to enjoy life and document it on the reg, I tip my hat to you. Props.

Meanwhile, it is fuh-reezing up in here (winter finally showed up in GA) and I'm working like a madwoman so that I can make it to Mardi Gras 2012 with a clean conscience. Here's to workin' hard and playing harder.

Oh, and happy Valentine's Day!
